HS HOOPS ROUNDUP: Trevino scores 15 in varsity debut as Monterey routs SA Lake View



Monterey 78, San Angelo Lake View 16

Mia Trevino scored 15 points in her varsity debut to help Monterey defeat San Angelo Lake View in a District 4-5A game.

The Lady Plainsmen improved to 17-9 overall and 2-1 in district play.

Braylyn Dollar chipped in 12 points, while Sydni Wagoner and Maddi Stephens each added 11 points for Monterey.

The Lady Plainsmen are scheduled to host Lubbock-Cooper at 6 p.m. Tuesday in district action.

Shallowater 64, Dimmitt 13

SHALLOWATER — Cailyn Breckel netted 16 points to lead Shallowater to a win over Dimmitt in District 2-3A action Friday night.

The Fillies improved to 20-3 overall and 6-1 in district play.

Jordyn Aragon (eight points), Tynli Harris (seven) and Maddie Blackburn (six) provided a balanced scoring attack. Braylie Gray, Alee Roberts, Taylor Moravcik and Stormie Williams each chipped in four points in the victory.

Shallowater is scheduled to host Slaton in a 6:30 p.m. Tuesday district game.

Lubbock High 71

Abilene Cooper 52

Clarrissa Francis, Keaira Garcia and Jaiden Eaton combined for 50 points as Lubbock High defeated Abilene Cooper in District 4-5A play.

The Lady Westerners improved to 11-13 overall and 2-1 in district play.

Francis led the way with a game-high 18 points. Eaton and Garcia netted 17 and 15 points, respectively.

Lubbock High is set to play a 6 p.m. Tuesday road game against Coronado.

Midland Classical 56


Leia Beattie poured in 40 points and Midland Classical outlasted Lubbock Christian High.

Lizabelle Russell added eight points for Midland Classical (13-8).

Lubbock Christian High (22-10) got 18 points from Maddy Crockett and 16 from Preston Lee.

Estacado 63

Brownfield 48

CKyra Sims scored 20 points, Ahrian Hill added 13 and Estacado won at home against District 2-4A foe Brownfield.

The Lady Matadors got eight points from Jazmine Diaz and seven apiece from Kaylan Walton and Tye Perryman.

Frenship 68

Odessa Permian 25

WOLFFORTH – Addison Wilson led a balanced attack with 15 points and Frenship hit the 20-victory mark, rolling over Odessa Permian in a District 2-6A game at the Tiger Pit.

Katelin Hise supplied 11 points for Frenship (20-6, 1-1), and Haleigh Elliott was good for nine. Riley Roberts and Ashton Beeles added eight points apiece, and Cassandra Awatt and Maci Maddox chipped in seven each.

Alexis Contee led Permian (10-11, 0-2) with nine points.


Monterey 68, SA Lake View 51

Qua Butler and James Langston scored 20 and 19 points, respectively, leading Monterey to a 68-51 conquest of San Angelo Lake View in a District 4-5A opener Friday night.

Langston scored nine points in the first quarter, helping Monterey (8-14, 1-0) get out to a 20-7 lead in front of a home crowd. Butler scored 10 in the third quarter, helping the Plainsmen keep the Chiefs at bay.

Isaiah English led Lake View (4-18, 0-1) with 18 points, followed by Ahmad Daniels with 10.

Austyn Sanchez and Albert Valderas finished with eight and seven points, respectively, for Monterey.
