PLAINVIEW — Ruben Lopez scored 16 points and Samuel Kalwanyi and Josh Throns each had a double-double as No. 21 Wayland Baptist beat No. 12 Mid-America Christian 75-55 Saturday in Sooner Athletic Conference basketball at Hutcherson Center.
Wayland (12-3, 5-2) won its third game in a row and second straight against a ranked team, having beaten No. 20 USAO on Thursday. The Pioneers had six double-digit scorers Thursday and five Saturday. Kraig Shields scored 14 points and Trevonta Robertson added 12. Kalwanyi had 11 points and 12 rebounds, and Throns 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Jordan Rhodes scored 16 points for MACU (10-5, 4-3).
Wayland maintained a one-half game lead in the SAC, although six other teams are within one game of the Pioneers.

PLAINVIEW — Alesha Robertson-Ellis got her 100th coaching victory at Wayland Baptist as the No. 5 Flying Queens beat Mid-America Christian behind 15 points from Kambrey Blakey.
Robertson-Ellis, a former Plainview and Texas Tech player, is 100-39 in her fifth season as Flying Queens coach.
Wayland (11-3, 5-2) snapped a mini-slump after losing three of its previous four games. Sophomore Kendrick Clark, in her first career start, scored 13 points. Deborah VanDijk had 11 points and 10 rebounds, her third double-double of the season.
Chelseah Savage paced MACU (9-6, 3-4) with 17 points, and Nevada Denton was next with 16.
The Flying Queens will play their third consecutive home game at 6 p.m. Monday against Oklahoma Panhandle State (9-5, 2-5), the opener of a women’s/men’s doubleheader.
