Lady Raiders drop fourth straight in road loss to New Mexico

Brielle Blaire finished with a team-high 10 points, but it wasn’t enough as Texas Tech needed more offense in a 90-56 road loss to New Mexico on Wednesday at Dreamstyle Arena in Albuquerque, N.M.

 

With the defeat, the Lady Raiders (3-5) extended their losing streak to four games. The Lobos improved to 10-0 this season.

Terry, who finished with nine points, had a strong start in the early going. The 6-foot-4 post scored six points as the Lady Raiders trailed 14-12 at the end of the first quarter.

From there, New Mexico took control as it outscored Texas Tech 76-44 in the next three quarters to stay undefeated.

Cherise Beynon (21 points), Tesha Buck (20) and Jaisa Nunn (15) finished in double figures for the Lobos. Nunn added 10 points to notch a double-double.

Receé Caldwell ended her night with eight points on 4 of 20 shooting in 37 minutes of play. Erin DeGrate chipped in eight points on 4 of 4 shooting in 10 minutes. Sophomore Brittany Brewer netted six points and two rebounds.

Texas Tech is slated to host Prairie View A&M for a 5:30 p.m. Dec. 13 contest, which is the first game a hoops doubleheader to be held inside United Supermarkets Arena.

The Tech men’s basketball team (7-1), coming off a win over No. 22 Nevada on Tuesday, is scheduled to host Kennesaw State at 8 p.m. on Dec. 13.
