The Texas Tech volleyball team will look to snap a three-game losing streak when it hits the road for a mid-week match.
The Red Raiders are slated to face off against TCU for Big 12 contest at 6 p.m. Wednesday at The Rickel inside the University Recreation Center.
In the previous matchup, the Horned Frogs (11-14, 3-10 Big 12) came away with a four-set win against Texas Tech (14-12, 3-10 Big 12).
TCU’s Anna Walsh and Ally Beth Deaton combined for 34 kills in the victory. Deaton ended with a double-double after notching 16 kills and 12 digs.
For a majority of the first set, the Horned Frogs held an early lead before a late 8-0 mini-run allowed the Red Raiders to secure a victory. TCU won the three sets — spurred on by seven kills in the second set by Walsh — to take the 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, 25-21 match win.
Texas Tech’s Emily Hill (18 kills), Sarah Redding (12) and Katy Keenan (11) finished with double-digit kill totals. Missy Owens orchestrated the offense by dishing out 50 assists, while Kate Klepetka ended the match with 20 digs.
Hill, who plays all six rotations, is pacing the Red Raiders offense, averaging 3.2 kills per set along with Chandler Atwood (2.84 kills per set) and Keenan (2.13). Owens is feeding the attack, averaging 10.86 assists per set this season.
