TxDOT to host Loop 88 project public meeting

The Texas Department of Transportation will host a public meeting about the Loop 88 project at 6 p.m. Feb. 20 at the Lubbock Cooper Performing Arts Center.

Proposed project information and route locations for segments 1 and 2 (U.S. 84 at Shallowater to U.S. 62/82 at Wolfforth) and segment 4 (U.S. 87 in south Lubbock to U.S. 84 in Slaton) will be presented for public comments, according to a TxDOT news release.

The proposed project would construct a six-lane freeway with ramps and frontage roads. Interchanges will be developed at cross streets - U.S. 84 at FM 2641 near Shallowater and U.S 84 at County Road 7500 near Slaton. The proposed improvements would require additional right-of-way and would result in commercial and residential displacements within the project limits.

The TxDOT news releases states verbal and written comments are appreciated throughout the Loop 88 planning process.
