ST. MARY’S CITY, Md. — Scientists recently opened a 17th-Century lead coffin believed to contain the remains of Maryland’s fourth Colonial governor, but they were not able to tell if the body inside was male or female.

SAN ANTONIO - Teachers were asking today to be given a voice in choosing their new superintendent. They mailed a resolution this week the board of trustees of the schools asking for a five-man screening committee to review applicants.
