In conjunction with the film “Mysteries of China” showing at the Science Spectrum Omni Theater, the Science Spectrum is hosting a Chinese New Year Festival on Saturday from 1-4 p.m.
The sights and sounds of the most celebrated traditional festival and holiday in China will be showcased at the Science Spectrum, with hands-on activities, children’s crafts and experiments, and an exploration of the inventions and unique methods of discovery by the ancient Chinese in science and technology.
This year is the Year of the Dog in China, which is on a 12-year cycle with a new animal chosen to represent each year.
“Mysteries of China” is a film that tells the story of ancient China, its first emperor and the literal foundation of modern China.
The Chinese New Year Festival is a free event in the lobby of the Science Spectrum, but standard museum rates of $8 for adults and $6.50 for children 3-12 and seniors will apply for those who go into the museum. On Saturday only, “Mysteries of China” will be available for a special discounted rate of $5 per ticket for ages 3 and up.
