Letter to editor: Helping hand from ‘blue’ Santa

Helping hand from ‘blue’ Santa

After nine good years, our washing machine washed its last load and went to appliance heaven. My husband decided to try and load this 240-pound machine in the back of his pickup by himself to carry it off to be recycled.

In order to make it a little easier, he backed up into our driveway with his back tires in the dip where the incline starts so he wouldn’t have to lift the washer so high.

A policeman happened to stop and get out of his patrol car; my husband apologized for blocking part of 42nd Street. Santa, dressed in blue, said “No problem, I just stopped to help you get that thing loaded.”

Not only do our policemen protect us, but they also stop to help when they see a need. Thank you!
