Mickey and Minnie Mouse and Characters from Toy Story are among 25 Disney characters who will come to life at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum, 2720 Drive of Champions.
Audiences will be entertained by the comical duo of Donald and Goofy and be able to see “magic” as the Fairy Godmother transforms Cinderella’s rags into a beautiful ball gown in a split second during the touring production of “Disney Live! Mickey and Minnie’s Doorway to Magic.”
Rapunzel and Flynn Rider will rise into the sky amidst floating lanterns. Snow White, Tinker Bell and Aladdin’s Genie will also appear in the show appropriate for all ages.
“The show is a nonstop wonder for the entire family,” said San Antonio native and University of Texas at Austin graduate Esia Hernandez-Edmundson, who serves as the touring company performance director.
The show, through lead characters Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy, takes the audience on a journey through legendary films including “Cinderella,” “Aladdin,” “Toy Story,” “Tangled,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” and “Fantasia.”
“There are many grand illusions,” Hernandez-Edmundson said. “For instance, Cinderella transforms from her rags to ball gown with the help of Fairy Godmother right on stage.”
The approximately 90-minute show includes a large opening musical and dance number written especially for this show.
Other songs people will be familiar with are “Friend Like Me” from “Aladdin,” “I’ve got a Dream” from “Tangled” and “Bibbidy Bobbidi Boo” from “Cinderella.”
The show, produced by Feld Entertainment, has toured nationally and internationally since 2015, according to Hernandez-Edmundson.
Reserved seats are $61, $49.75, $39.75, $34.75 and $29.75.
Tickets are on sale at Select-A-Seat outlets at Amigo’s Supermarket, Dollar Western Wear, Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, Market Street, Ralph’s Records and United Supermarkets. Call 770-2000 for more details.
