Instacart, a same-day grocery delivery service, will launch in Lubbock on Friday.
Through the website or app service, customers can order groceries from retailers like Costco, CVS, Natural Grocers, Food King and United Supermarkets, and have their groceries and essentials delivered to their doorsteps within a chosen delivery window, which could range from within an hour to a week ahead.
The delivery fee depends on the cost of the groceries and the delivery time, and can be affected by busy hours. For orders over $35 or more, the delivery fee is $5.99.
Instacart will deliver to various Lubbock-area communities as well, including Woodrow, Wolfforth, Buffalo Springs, New Deal and Roosevelt.
Sean Twersky, senior regional director for Instacart, said in a news release that the company has received numerous requests to expand to the Lubbock in the past year. Instacart plans to hire 100 shoppers to help with the service.
“Expansion into Lubbock gives us an opportunity to expand service in the Texas market,” Twersky said. “We’re also excited to build a world class shopper community, where we can offer fun and flexible income earning opportunities for our shoppers, who ultimately deliver this amazing service to the community.”
