Gaschen commits to Lubbock Chorale Gala

The Lubbock Chorale’s annual gala, its most important scholarships fundraiser, will take place Feb. 25 at the McKenzie Merket Alumni Center Ballroom on the Texas Tech campus, 2521 17th St.
It includes cocktails and appretizers at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m., followed by a vocal concert with the theme “A Night on Broadway.”
Musical theater professional David Gaschen, a Tech and Lubbock Chorale alum, will perform accompanied by a pianist, and also with the chorale.
Reserved seats are $77 for individual tickets and $96 for VIP tickets (includes service charges and fees). VIP ticket holders receive preferred seating, complimentary wine and a gift bag.
The deadline to purchase tickets is Feb. 21.
Tickets are on sale at the Select-A-Seat outlets at Amigo’s Supermarket, Dollar Western Wear, Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, Market Street, Ralph’s Records, Texas Tech Student Union and United Supermarkets. Call 770-2000 for more details.
During intermissions, patrons can peruse an exhibit called “A Sound Investment,” with a display of courses taken by undergraduate and graduate scholarship students.
Each exhibit for a course of study will display faculty and student photos, and course materials such as books, musical scores, concert attire and equipment, along with tags listing the cost of each item. Giving patrons can pull a tag and take it to the register.
Proceeds help fund scholarships. Courses of study being displayed include Applied Voice Studio, Music History & Literature (Chris Smith’s Ireland seminar), Graduate Choral Literature, Applied Conducting Studio, Song Literature, Oratorio Literature, Choral Techniques and Choral Ensembles (University Choir, Women’s Chorale and Matador Singers).
